Kerry Washington jetted off to Rome, Italy to attend a photocall for the Quentin Terantino-directed flick, D’janjo Unchained – and, boy, did she step out with a bang. Call this leading lady safe no longer.
The D’janjo Unchained star stunned photags with her avant-garde Peter Pilotto Spring 2013 dress and proved that she could be just as daring as her ballsy alter ego, Olivia Pope, on the hit prime time series Sandal. Talk about taking risks - the sleeveless wrap dress contrasts three vividly graphic prints and feature a rib exposing cut-out detail with an exaggerated asymmetrical ruffle, wrapped around the waist down to the hemline.
However, I must say I prefer the look on the runway. Kerry’s blunt navy pumps fell a little flat, while the bold shoes on the runway carried through with the fearless tone of the dress. Also, after viewing the full collection, it’s a wonder why Kerry went with this dress. The collection had so much more to offer. I would have loved to see her in the steel blue and grey graphic silk skirt and blouse (shown below). None the less, she took a risk – and you can’t shade a risk. I certainly look forward to watching Kerry on the red-carpet throughout the year.
